Do you think digital software, everything from blue screens to green screens to CGI, is overused in modern cinema? In the past, models and miniatures were relied on, and generally, they did great. Look at the early Star Wars Films for example. I think it can be overused, but generally, it isn't. Models were even used somewhat in the Star Wars Prequels.
