That's so bad it makes the whole movie great because it's so hilarious We've got it at our school library - there's also the Hobbit, FotR and TTT available

I think it's the sequel's to Bakshi's ill-fated Lord of the Rings "Trilogy", even though it left out half of Towers and all of King.

I think it's the sequel's to Bakshi's ill-fated Lord of the Rings "Trilogy", even though it left out half of Towers and all of King. Alas, I've never heard of Bakshi's version, nor have I heard of Bakshi. I know only of the Lord of the Rings version that we all saw, or so we can assume, and the animated version which has a picture of Gandalf on the front, and has red layers over many of its pictures. Unless this is Bakshi's version, as The Return of the King was completely missing from this version.

Yes, that would be what is known as Bakshi's version. They were supposed to do the entire trilogy, but because of budget they had to cut down to half, but didn't bother to change the title from "The Lord of the Rings". It seems that without even watching the first film, the new director made the sequel, and started at the very beginning of Return of the King with Minas Tirith and Cirith Ungol, whereas Bakshi's version ended at Helm's Deep and before the hobbits ever even reached the Black Gate or Faramir.
