I despised this change in the movies pretty much more than anything else.
I'll present my 'arguement' when someone replies.

It's not realistic. It took them like, 2 hours to get there, and it took the Fellowship days to arrive at Helm's Deep.

Half a month actually.
In the movie, the size of the army is reduced to 300 when in the book it was somewhere around two thousand.
I actually think it's better this way. Gives it a weird sense of depression.
Phillipa, I believe, said on the EE commentary that this was supposed to be a sign of unity of all ccreatures to fight against Middle-Earth.
It would have been great if they were informed of this at the very beginning of the movie instead of fifteen minutes before the battle.
Though I do think elves are cool they simply don't belong at Helm's Deep.

Just a question, but why was Helm's Deep at the end of book 3 in TTT?

Feel free to make your own thread for any questions. It could generate discussion. I've gone ahead though: ThreadOkay, back on topic. I think the whole elf thing came about as a reason to include Galadriel's 'midlogue'.

I must say, I think all the changes made to the story line, including how they used Arwen (she's hardly mentioned in TT) just sick, pointless and blasphemic. (I just had to say that). And, concerning the elfies arriving Helm's Deep, that's just as silly as that Helm's Deep movie on badgerbadger.com. I mean, how could they have gotten there so soon? And, why the heck would Galadriel send those there when they obviously were needed to defend the Lothlorien borders? That's the same as risking an invasion in one of the most important locations (politically) in the whole of ME!!And that just doesn't make sense at all. *shoots MJ for doing such a stupid thing to the most complete book/ story line ever written*

I didn't think ALL the changes were bad, but I didn't like this one. It's just... eh.

And, like I've said before... just didn't work.
Any other opinions?

i just thought it was crazy because it was supposed to be the mens battle. the elves weren't supposed to help. it was supposed to be a near hopeless last attempt to get rid of the orcs by the men. and like yogurt said, how'd they get their so fast?
