I am bringing this topic over here from the GEF. As most know, I am making a chick flick, as I call it, known as Day and Night. Don't ask me where I got the title, cause I don't know where the hell I got the title. It was supposed to be up a week ago, or something like that, but there's been technical difficulties and I've decided to reshoot the film, so it's better! Here I will post production diaries, the first being: Fay Wray Selected To Play Main Villain 12-27-05 "Fay Wray, a professional actress used in many movies from the original 'King Kong' to 'Darlin, want an apple?', has been selected by Director Bacon, to play the role of Helga Parringly, the tricky assassin sent by the German Government to assassinate British General Harry Taylor (Jack Haley), who is in the middle of a honeymoon with the beautiful bruinette, Elizabeth (Judy Garland). Production started last night, and according to Bacon, there is a new minor character whose scenes were finished just yesterday. "Instead of Helga informing Elizabeth of the supposed death of Harry, we are using an annoying date," he says. "We've finished his scenes, and are now moving on to the first skirmish near the beginning of the film where Helga is introduced." On the role of Helga, Fay says, "The character is really more of a blonde than she is a villain. Always doing something wrong. She's a wonderful villain and I'm really looking forward to the knife fight with Judy above London." More news as it develops!

Fay Wray's Transformation 12-28-05 Even actors that play mere humans have to undergo major makeup sometimes, and in this case, it couldn't be used more. Fay Wray's face has been altered for the production, so much that you wouldn't recognize her on the face. "Mr. Bacon told me I was going to be going through massive overhauls of makeup for the film, and I was quite surprised, as I was playing an average woman," says actress Fay Wray. "Apparently she's not." Bacon has decided to make Helga more crone-like. She looks now more like of the old witch off of Snow White, though not as ugly. "They gave me a dull right eye, they made my nose larger and have a hump, my ears are funny-looking, and my mouth... my mouth feels strange. It's really odd." This photograph was taken of Wray immediately after the makeup was first applied, yesterday evening. As you can see, that does not look like Fay Wray. "It's going to be quite interesting looking at myself at the premiere. I can only imagine what my family will say when they see my face as Helga. And, I'm still looking forward to that knife fight."

The Mind of a Young Actress 12-29-05 Judy Garland is the star of Bacon's Romance Day and Night. Playing the young 19 year old Elizabeth Taylor, whose morals and devotions are put to the test in a thrilling final battle in the streets of London, Judy has come a long way since the Wizard of Oz (1939). "It's been a thrilling experience working on this project," says Judy of Day and Night. "It was so marvelous to work alongside Jack Haley again." Judy's character is in practically every single scene in the project, save for three, which involve Helga (Fay Wray) alone. "It's been very... tiring working on all of these scenes at once. There have been so many reshoots recently with the departure of Mrs. Hamilton and Fay's new makeup." On the subject of Fay's newfound appearance, Judy says, "Oh my goodness! I walked out of my wardrobe Tuesday evening, and I saw Fay there, and I thought she had a mask on or something. She 'roared' as if she was a lion or something. I tried to take off the mask she was wearing, but it turns out that it was the makeup! I have never seen something more amazing in my life! How on earth did they do that to her!" Fay and Judy have been great friends on the set of Day and Night. "Oh, yes, we're the typical girls that hang out. After shoots, we like to go to the parlor downtown and have a malt." Judy and Jack Haley have also managed to find a great relationship. "Working with Jack on the Wizard of Oz was different than Day and Night. On Oz, Jack was typically in makeup, but on this movie, he has no makeup. I find it odd looking at him without no makeup, but nevertheless." "My favorite scene in the movie... I would have to say either the beginning flashback where Harry departs in the subway car... quite eerie... quite sad... or the scene in the bar just before the car chase. I think we gave that sequence what it deserved. It's one of the few 'big' romance scenes in the film. In fact, that scene is nothing but romance. I love the way it's been edited." "The final battle in London is going to be very interesting. We've filmed a bit of it, but not much. It's very bloody. It isn't an 'epic' battle, it's more like a big skirmish, and most of the time Jack and I are running from Fay whose chasing us with a gun." Judy chuckles at this point. "Atleast in the script anyway." Day and Night is to be released sometime in January, or possibly February. Here is a picture of Judy taken after her first makeup test was applied on December 15th:

Day and Night Editing Completed 1-29-06
Day and Night, Bacon's 'thrilling romantic epic', recently completed the editing process yesterday morning after an extruciating long period of nothing happening. "It's been a long edit," says Bacon of the matter. "Many things changed in post-production, such as the flashback scene and the inclusion of music during the very short car chase. We also had a major music reworking, incorporating music from the Fellowship of the Ring into the mix. The credits music also changed, as did the order of several shots during the final action sequence."
When asked of release, Bacon said, "The premiere is scheduled to be held this Tuesday, the 31st. It should be released the following evening, I suppose."
Judy Garland and the rest of the cast will be attending the premiere, as well as several of their co-workers, friends, and families, along with the rest of the crew, including the production team, special effects group, etc.
"The film is truly marvelous," says Judy. "I recently watched the rough cut last Thursday, and even though I had filmed it, the ending seemed to come as such a shock. It happened so quick, and then... (judy begins to cry) Oh, dear me. Oh, the running time? It was about an hour or so long, a third of it taking place in the ruins of London."
Fay Wray, whose appearance was briefly changed to a hag-like witch until all decided to change it back to the way it was, on the contrary, is not as fond of the film as Judy. "I think it could have turned out better. The editing is sloppy in some areas, and the continuity errors run amack. I expect it shall recieve acclaim, and it is a decent film, however it is nothing more than a third of Titanic taking place during the Second World War with no sinking boat."

Rough Draft of Day and Night 1-29-06
The rough draft of Day and Night is not very much different in terms of the actual storyline.
It begins with a depressed girl gazing upon the picture of her lover lost in war. As she walks downstairs, he suddenly appears in her doorway. They have a picnic in the living room, and get married at a beach. As they return home on horseback, they see several corprses. Upon this discovery, the depressed girl insists that they return to London immediately, but the guy refuses to let her. They separate and she returns to London to find it in ruins. After a brief battle with German Forces, the guy returns and is shot to death. The end.

Yes, and it was 15 minutes long. I began to expand upon the idea, the second version being twice as long. The third was forty minutes, the fourth forty-five, the fifth fifty-five, and finally an hour and five minutes. Many ideas were put into effect, such as the entire concept of Helga.
